Family has confirmed reports making rounds that Congolese Singer Koffi Olomide has died.
In a statement issued by the family, Olomide died after been hospitalised on Sunday..
Olomide, 60, died on Monday, the statement however did not mention the cause of his death.
The Rhumba maestro was earlier on discharged on Saturday before re-admitted after his condition called for a medical emergency.
Olomide has made hits and sold throughout Africa and beyond. He was one of Africa’s export in the music industry at the global market. During his youth, Olomide improvised by singing popular songs with his own lyrics and altered rhythms until a neighbor taught him how to play the guitar.
He was a soukous singer, dancer, producer, and composer. He was the founder of the Quartier Latin International orchestra with many notable artists, including Fally Ipupa and Ferré Gola.
